     4.  Casualty Mail:  An increasing amount of mail for deceased personnel is being returned to the APO with improper or incomplete indorsements.  The indorsement "SEARCH" is placed on mail for deceased and missing personnel only.  Also, units in some instances are failing to complete the full name, grade and service number upon initial indorsement at the unit level.  Unit commanders are requested to take necessary action to insure unit mail
clerks comply with these postal requirements.

     5.  Vehicle Batteries:  Vehicle batteries are in critical shortage in the 25th Infantry Division.  This condition may become even worse the next few months with the hot weather.  To preclude unnecessary deadline time attributed to premature battery failure, it is requested that commanders take positive measures to insure that equipment operators check and fill their batteries on a day to day basis.

     6.  Signal Note:  Although there are built-in deterrents like diodes and resistors, sudden voltage surges from the vehicle electrical system
can get the best of the radio set.  TURN OFF the radio set prior to starting and stopping the vehicle engine.

     7.  Registration and Export of Privately Owned Firearms:  Personnel with privately owned firearms are reminded of the provisions of Div Reg
210-2 which requires that all such weapons be registered with the Provost Marshal.  Personnel who intend to take private firearms from Vietnam are reminded to report to the Office of the Provost Marshal to make application for an export license no later than 60 days prior to prospective DEROS.  Failure to obtain an export license may result in the weapon being confiscated by Vietnamese customs officials.
